Yue Yuen with 7.3% growth in turnover
China-based footwear giant reported improved first quarter financial results with both turnover and profit up compared to results in similar period last year
Total turnover of the group for the quarter ended in March rose 7.3% to approximately 1. 967 billion US dollars against 1.83 billion US dollars a year ago.
Year over year, turnover for athletic shoes was up by 3.8% (from 875.0 million US dollars to 908.1 million US dollars). This category is the main one in terms of revenue generation, despite the slight decrease from similar period last year (from a 47.7% share to 46.2%). Sales fell by 6.8% and by 8.4%, respectively, for the casual/outdoor shoes and sports sandals segments.
Total shoe manufacturing volume was down by 2.0% to 74.5 million pairs for the first three month period of 2015.
With regards to the retail and wholesale business of sportswear in the Greater China region, turnover increased by 24.8% to 579.6 million US dollars in 2015 compared to 464.4 million US dollars recorded in the same period last year.
Recurring operating profit amounted to 85.9 million US dollars. The group also presented non-recurring operating profit of 4.2 million US dollars during the period.
Profit before taxation was 111.8 million US dollars against 86.7 million US dollars a year ago. Profit for the period after tax was 90.1 million US dollars against 70.2 million US dollars a year ago. Improved retail sales has been attributed to the increase in profits.
Net profit attributable to owners of the company for the first three months of fiscal year 2015 amounted to approximately 90.1 million US dollars.
