Vince Camuto dies at age 78
The footwear legend behind Nine West and Camuto Group has passed away today at his home
In 1978, Vince Camuto co-founded the Nine West Group Inc., and served as its creative director, being appointed CEO as the company was taken public in 1993. Six years later the company was sold to the Jones Apparel Group.
In August 2001, Camuto established the Camuto Group, a business dedicated to providing design, sourcing, marketing and production services retailers. Following this he was involved in the launch of several footwear brands as well as in the acquisition of some footwear licenses.
In 2005, he launched the footwear line Vince Camuto and also purchased the master license for Jessica Simpson.
