UK: retail sales slip at fastest pace since 2009
The High Street business in the UK continues to face challenging times. Now, the highest drop in British retail sales in the last 10 years has been reported
British retail sales are dropping at the fastest annual pace in 10 years, according to what is being reported by Reuters.
The same source indicated that the Confederation of British Industry's monthly retail sales balance fell to -42 from -27 in May, below forecasts in a Reuters poll that had pointed to an improved reading of -10.
The performance in June 2019 compares to a surge in sales in June last year, driven at the time by the hot weather and the men's soccer World Cup.
Even tough, analysts have no questions in confirming: "conditions on the High Street remain challenging".
