UITIC Congress ends on a positive note
The 21st edition of the UITIC Congress ended last week on a positive note, calling on companies to pursue digital transformation to be more innovative and sustainable. Sergio Dulio replaced Yves Morin as President of UITIC
From the 21st to the 22nd of September (following an optional day of visits to factories and a visit to SIMAC Tanning Tech on the 19th and 20th), in Milan, 250 delegates from 22 countries took part in a programme comprising four sessions and two panels focusing on new products and materials, the digital transformation of products and processes, the role of workers in Industry 5.0 and sustainability, with 12 panels and 24 speakers.

In addition, research centres and institutions from all over the world presented their innovative solutions in 17 booths set up for the purpose at the Innovation Showcase.

These are the numbers of a successful edition” of the International Technical Footwear Congress, concluded the organisation, highlighting the consensus generated on the need for companies to innovate to be sustainable, fully embracing the digital transformation for this purpose, as it is the main enabler of this change.

At the same time, the event was also an opportunity to celebrate UITIC's fiftieth anniversary and to recognise three “distinguished members of the footwear community” at the Gala Dinner held at the Castle of Vigevano, namely, Fortunato Federico from Portugal in the managerial category, Ricardo Jaime Guerra from Mexico in the technological one and Emiliano Bozzato from Italy for his scientific merits.

The two days culminated with the renewal of the association's Executive Committee. After 13 years of service, Yves Morin stepped down as President of UITIC and was succeeded by Sergio Dulio. The latter will now be in charge of organising the 22nd edition of the Congress, which will take place in Shanghai in 2025.
