UGG releases second carbon-neutral collection
The brand has unveiled its second carbon-neutral collection for the Spring/Summer of 2022. By fall, it will release the first Classic style with sheepskin sourced from regenerative agriculture farms
The Icon-Impact collection features three models - Fluff Yeah Terry, Fuzz Sugar Terry Slide, and Fuzz Sugar Terry Cross Slide -, crafted from low-impact materials with offsets purchased for the small number of emissions they create. The brand has also incorporated a looped blend of Responsible Wool Standard-certified wool and TENCEL Lyocell sourced from responsibly-harvested trees into its textured terry twist. Moreover, the outsoles are made with renewable sugarcane, delivering "all the ease expected from UGG in three standout sandals that help the wearer feel good in more ways than one".
"UGG is on a journey toward a more regenerative future, and materials are a key area where it can reduce impact. The brand is working to integrate innovative, sustainable materials throughout its product line, using capsule collections like its Icon-Impact Collection to highlight these changes, and seeking better alternatives for conventionally used materials", it can be read in the statement.
The division of Deckers Brands has also introduced the dual-gender Classic Mini Regenerate, to be released in the fall. This model, which comprises twinface sheepskin sourced from farms that practice regenerative agriculture, is part of the UGG’s commitment to restore one million acres of farmland by 2025.
