Spanish footwear exports continue to grow
According to FICE, the Federation of Spanish Footwear Industries, during the first six months of 2015 exports have reached 1480.6 million euros (83.8 million pairs)
The figures, now announced, represent increases of 17.6% in value and 6.6% in volume over similar quarter in 2014. The performance of the Spanish footwear industry has been quite dynamic, when compared to the global performance of the overall goods industry, which registered a 4.9% increase in exports during the first half of the year.
According to the same source, the EU is the main buyer of Spanish footwear, encouraging and leading the growth of total exports. 5 European countries represent more than two thirds of the global sales abroad with France (22%), Italy (10%), Germany (9%), the UK (7%) and Portugal (7%) as the leading top destinations for Spanish footwear.
Exports to the EU countries show a positive trend with an increase of 22% in value and 12% by volume.
Contrasting to this dynamic performance, sales to countries outside the EU, representing 22% of the total exports, grew by 4.3% in value, but declined by 9.3% in pairs.
