Soles4Souls calls for donations to help LA fires relief efforts
The Nashville-based nonprofit is raising 25,000 USD to ensure new shoes, clothing and accessories reach families devastated by the Los Angeles wildfires
The wildfire assistance is part of Soles4Souls’ 4Relief programme, a second-wave response that helps people in crisis and frees up financial resources for other needs. To that end, the organisation has warehouses across the US stocked and ready to help when needed.
The warehouse in San Bernardino, about 60 miles outside of Los Angeles, has already provided shoes and clothing to the affected community. “We were able to mobilize quickly thanks to our longstanding relationships with our school, community and footwear partners across the US, in addition to the products we already had in our San Bernardino and surrounding-area warehouses,” said Buddy Teaster, Soles4Souls chief executive officer and president.
However, “with the additional money we raise, we can assist more families in desperate need. Every dollar counts”, he said, urging people to donate to the LA fire relief effort.
Headquartered in Nashville, with regional donation centres and warehouse locations, Soles4Souls “turns shoes and clothing into educational and economic opportunities”. In addition to the 4Relief programme, the nonprofit has the 4Opportunity, 4EveryKid and 4ThePlanet programmes that aim to make a positive difference to the planet and the economic, educational, physical and psychosocial well-being of people.
