Shoes of Prey partners with Nordstrom to expand into the US
Following several months of negotiations Shoes of Prey has announced it has finalized a deal with Nordstrom to open its first US store

The deal represents a huge boost for the custom-design shoe business’ Shoes of Prey, which according to founder Jodie Fox “has the possibility to triple the business because of the size of the population – it is all about critical mass”.

Earlier this year Shoes of Prey opened its first store in Westfield Bondi Junction and the plan is to open six outlets in Nordstrom stores in Seattle, Washington, California, New Jersey and Illinois and there are also plans to open a New York shopfront.

The US is currently the second biggest market for the company outside Australia and the new retail space will be Shoes of Prey’s first in the US and is set to open its doors on 17th of November.

Shoes of Prey will not be selling ready-to-wear shoes. Rather, the outlets will help Nordstrom customers design their own shoes online, including the length and width, the heel height and style, color, pattern and fabric.

Nordstrom, founded by John Nordstrom opened its first shoe store in 1901 and currently generates annual sales of more than US 12 billion US dollars and is currently one of the largest department chains in the US.

“We’re always looking for the best merchandise and experiences for our customers and we know there is something special about finding just the right pair of shoes”, commented Nordstrom’s General Merchandise Manager for shoes Scott Meden.
