Schuh is re-opening most stores
The footwear retailer is set to reopen most of its stores in England and Ireland today. Reduced opening hours will be imposed, alongside with other health and safety measures
The re-opening follows almost three months of closures for all non-essential shops decided by UK Government orders to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.
Schuh stores will operate with reduced hours with the aim to achieve full time if the initial re-opening works out well. For now, opening hours will vary depending on the store.
Schuh has said each store will have to carry out risk assessments to ensure all safety for all staff and customers. When visiting a Schuh store expect to find staff with PPE (personal protective equipment), including masks and gloves. Hand sanitiser stations have been installed in branches. Extra cleaning, changed floor layouts (to allow for social distancing) and a cap on the number of customers allowed in each store are some of the measures to be implemented.
All shoes tried on but not purchased will be sprayed with disinfectant and returns will also be quarantined for 72 hours before being put back onto the shop floor, in line with government guidelines.
Schuh is also offering a 20% off Blue Light discount for emergency workers, armed forces and veterans.
