Sarah Jessica Parker shuts down her shoe brand
Actress Sarah Jessica Parker has announced that the SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker brand will cease trading in the fall of 2024, after 10 years in business
Parker launched the brand in 2013 with the late fashion executive George Malkemus III, who was responsible for making Manolo Blahnik a household name in the US. Malkemus wanted to do the same with Parker’s shoe collection, as her character in the HBO series ‘Sex and the City’ helped make brands such as Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin and Jimmy Choo iconic.
“After 10 colourful years, SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker has made the difficult decision to close its doors this fall. The SJP Collection team expresses enormous gratitude to all of their loyal customers and supporters, as well as all those they’ve worked alongside”, said the brand in a statement.
The company’s flagship store on the corner of Bleecker and Perry Street in New York (steps away from her Sex and the City character’s flat) will remain open until the 25th of August, and customers will still be able to shop online.
