Portuguese B2B shoe platform Dportus enters the market

Created by Diogo Ribeiro, grandson of the founder of Campeão Português, the B2B platform dportus allows footwear manufacturers to showcase their collections, know-how and services
“Revolutionising the way international brands and companies are able to reach Portuguese factories, allowing all companies to increase their exposure and grow their business”. This is the impulse behind dportus, the new B2B platform made in Portugal that promises to revolutionise the market.
The project is the brainchild of Diogo Ribeiro, grandson of Domingos Torcato Ribeiro, founder of the company that is the university of footwear, Campeão Português. “I was born, as they say, in a shoebox. I did all my education to follow in the footsteps of the family business and always with a lot of curiosity and passion for shoes”.
Although Diogo did not continue in the family business, he “always wanted to take the footwear industry to another level and leave a footprint, just like my family did 70 years ago, so I ended up creating my own company: dportus”.
“dportus was born from the experience I’ve gained both in the industry (Ecco and Camport) and the management of branded footwear companies (Sonae). Combining the needs, shortcomings and opportunities I saw on both sides, I realized that dportus really needed to be created”.
Hence, “dportus allows footwear manufacturing companies to showcase their collections, know-how and services. It’s a B2B platform that aims to take the industry to another level and show the best of what it can do”.
“I immediately realized that there was a gap in the footwear industry in terms of digitising the business. From my experience, I’m aware that investments in the industry are more focused on optimizing processes – which makes companies more competitive on a global level – rather than on the commercial side”.
However, “on the commercial side, for those who buy or manage brands and are looking for factories in Portugal, without this development, they won’t always be able to reach the companies”, explains Diogo.
The platform is in a phase of expansion. It currently has more than 50 partners, but the goal “is to increase to show more of what’s available in Portugal”.
“I want to leave a footprint in the footwear industry by filling an existing gap in the industry. I believe that this type of tool can be the future of the industry”, explains the founder of dportus. “Above all, I want to support all Portuguese manufacturers to show that we are superb and help them to increase their business in an industry that means so much to me”.
