In September quantities of exported footwear declined by 30.18% compared to similar period in 2015, going from 845 thousand pairs to 590 thousand pairs. In value terms, exports of footwear increased from 5.94 million US dollars in September 2015 to 6.49 million US dollars in September 2016 (+9.14%), according to data recently released by PBS (Pakistan Bureau of Statistics).

Leather footwear, representing 85.40% in the total value of exported footwear, increased its volume (+60.00%) and value (+32.35%) of exports, going from 4.19 million US dollars in September 2015 to 5.54 million US dollars in similar month in 2016.

During the period July 2016 – September 2016 Pakistan exported 2.59 million pairs of shoes, valued at 26.25 million US dollars. This compares to exports of 2.58 million pairs valued at 26.28 million US dollars in similar period in 2015 and reflects a relative stability in the period, both in volumes (0.23%) and value (-0.14%).

Leather footwear sales, representing the largest share in footwear exports in the period (86.28%), reached 22.64 million US dollars and went up by 7.12% during the first two months of the year (quantities also increased in the period, +18.53%).

According to the World Footwear Yearbook, in 2015 Pakistan exported 12 million pairs of footwear valued at 116 million US dollars.
