Owner of Havaianas sells Osklen
The Brazilian manufacturer Alpargatas has received a binding offer for its 60% stake in the brand Osklen. This move is in line with its strategy to focus on Havaianas growth
The buyer for Osklen, a Brazilian brand of sustainable surf- and skate-inspired clothing and footwear, is the Brazilian manufacturer of sports shoes Dass Nordeste Calçados e Artigos Esportivos, which also acts as a local supplier of shoes for Nike, adidas, Asics, Under Armour, Reebok, Puma and Mizuno. Dass has agreed to pay 400 million Brazilian reais (63.3 million euros) for all the shares held by Alpargatas in the Osklen business.
Alpargatas stated that the disposal of the stake held in Osklen will allow the company to focus on its organic growth, by expanding Havaianas into new categories. The brand is especially known for its flip-flops.
According to shoeintelligence.com, the company plans to invest 600 million reais (95.2 million euros) next year to increase its manufacturing capacity and the logistics network to support the development of Havaianas. In addition, the company intends to invest in new brands, new products or new digital solutions.
