Nike and Tiffany team up on sneaker collab
The sportswear giant and the jewellery specialist have released Nike's Air Force 1 1837 style, a nod to the year Tiffany was founded. The collab includes a limited-edition sterling silver accessories collection
“This collaboration between Tiffany & Co. and Nike marks two iconic American brands coming together in a display of heritage and craftsmanship. Each design is as much a celebration of the collaboration as it is a symbol of the House’s unparalleled savoir-faire and craftsmanship”, reads Tiffany's website on the collection. Thus, it is meant to honour the jewellery's origins as a “luxury goods emporium”, where silver took centre stage, but also showcase its signature colour, which was selected by its founder, Charles Lewis Tiffany, in 1845, for its annual Blue Book.
The Nike/Tiffany Air Force 1 1837 features a premium black suede with a Tiffany Blue swoosh, .925 sterling silver heel tabs and Tiffany script sewn onto the tongue tag. The sneakers will be delivered to their customers in a co-branded Tiffany blue box. The collaboration also entailed a limited edition of Nike/Tiffany-inspired sterling silver accessories (meanwhile, sold out). Sold at 400 US dollars, the Nike/Tiffany Air Force 1 1837 is globally available via Nike's SNKRS app and select Nike partner retail stores in North America since the 7th of March.
This highly-anticipated release marks Tiffany's first collaboration with Nike, even if in 2005 the jewellery's banner colours were the inspiration for the Diamond Supply Co and Nike SB. Despite some mixed reactions to the collab, it is certainly regarded as a collector’s item.
