Nicolas Kirkwood to become independent from LVMH
The British-based footwear designer and the French luxury conglomerate LVMH will go separate paths going forward. LVMH acquired the Nicolas Kirkwood label in 2013
Nicolas Kirkwood will take back control of his fashion label and follow different paths from LVMH, which, according to several reports on the media, will allegedly support the designer during the first few years of independence to ensure a gradual change.
The UK-based brand is not performing very well, with 2019 revenues down by 28% to 8.14 million British pounds (8.89 million euros) and an operating loss of 3.3 million British pounds (3.6 million euros). The British designer launched his namesake label in 2005 and LVMH became majority shareholder in 2013.
