Nicaragua to focus on athletic shoes
Several dozens of local footwear manufacturers have been asked by the industry association Camcunic to focus on making athletic footwear
The Nicaraguan footwear manufacturing companies, mostly very small ones, have received training from the local Footwear Association on athletic shoe construction and materials, besides intelligence about the most relevant markets. Some of the companies are already in the process of making samples.
Camcunic’s President, Alejandro Delgado, believes this change can help Nicaraguan shoemakers to increase their sales by around 20%, allowing the footwear sector in the Central American country to create as many as 10 000 new jobs.
