New Helsar Vegan shoes: find the differences
Founded in 1979 in São João da Madeira, one of the historic regions for footwear production in Portugal, Helsar is now focusing on a new type of products
The Portuguese company just launched a new concept: Vegan Shoes. Although the project is new, the idea has been around the corridors of the company for over 10 years. Now, it was time to put in practice, and it is easy to understand why this happened now. As the management of the company underlined, nowadays consumers are more demanding than ever and are asking for information about the products and the methods of production, and even questioning how were the materials sourced.

Helsar believes that by making all this information available for their consumers, it will allow them to make more conscious decisions about the products they are acquiring. This won’t compromise the traditional use of leather and other animal based materials; by the contrary, it will allow consumers to have a choice.

And the brand adds: “you don’t need to be vegan to wear vegan shoes”. It’s more of a personal right to decide what to wear in case someone is an animal lover.

Helsar believes shoes made with vegan materials can have the same look and invites us to find the differences between a leather shoe and a non-leather one.

At first sight the products made with leather and the ones made with non-animal based materials are similar. But by using materials which have a non animal nature, such as soles, leathers and varnishes, Helsar is producing more economic and animal friendly shoes. A different option for those who value the animal rights without compromising design and style.
