New deputy CEO for Gucci
Kering, the French-based luxury group that owns Gucci, has appointed Stefano as deputy chief executive officer of the Italian house. The move comes amid efforts to revive Gucci
Cantino joins Gucci from LVMH, where he has been SVP of communications and events at Louis Vuitton since 2018. Prior to that, he spent more than 20 years at the Prada Group, lastly as director of communications and marketing.
He will take up his new position on the 2nd of May and report to Gucci CEO Jean-François Palus, with whom he will share responsibility for defining and implementing the brand strategy. He will also work closely with Francesca Bellettini, Kering’s deputy CEO in charge of brand development.
“His extensive experience in the luxury industry at the executive level in various organisations, his broad expertise as well as his strategic thinking and artistic culture make him a great asset to our team. Stefano will work very closely with me and in full alignment with the entire Gucci team to implement our action plans across the organisation”, commented Paulus.
In this newly created role, Stefano is expected to help turn around Gucci’s fortunes. Kering has recently reported that Gucci’s sales continue to falter in response to slower demand and that it expects a 19% drop in sales in the first quarter of 2024.
“His extensive experience in strategic functions in prominent companies in the luxury sector is a valuable addition to Jean François’ strong leadership and Sabato's creative strength”, concluded Francesca Bellettini, deputy CEO of Kering.
