Manolo Blahnik buys footwear manufacturer
Luxury footwear designer Manolo Blahnik bought Calzaturificio Re Marcello, founded in 1938 and located in Vigevano (province of Pavia). The company has been manufacturing shoes for Manolo Blahnik since 1990
Earlier in the week, the designer commented by saying the integration of "77 highly skilled craftsmen of Calzaturificio Re Marcello within the group will strengthen his vision to develop artisan talent and maintain the art of producing shoes for future generations".
Calzaturificio Re Marcello started running in 1938 under the name of Invitta and specialized in children’s footwear. After World War II, it started to diversify adding men’s and women’s footwear to its stock, and in the sixties changed its name to Re Marcello. The company will remain in the hand of the Re family. Current management of Calzaturificio Re Marcello, formed by Bruno Re and Giuse Galazzi, will continue to work alongside Manolo Blahnik's team with the aim to guarantee continuity.
