Malone Souliers names two new creative directors

The London-based footwear brand has appointed two of its long-time team members, Coco Fong and Valerio Brava, as its new co-creative directors

The duo is expected to work together to “build upon” Malone Souliers’ “distinctive aesthetic” while expressing a joint vision capable of propelling “the brand forward into exciting new territory”. Their first collection will be the Autumn / Winter ’23 one, set to be unveiled at the end of July. They will replace the founder Mary Alice Malone, who will now take on the title of Founder & Chief Brand Director to focus on strategic planning, creative business growth and expansion into new markets.

“It is a joy to work with Coco and Valerio”, she said. “Over the past few years of mentoring them, I have seen their incredible talents strengthen and grow. They have long been my sounding boards, sharing the same appreciation for beautifully crafted, exceptionally designed shoes and I am delighted to see them move into this newly created joint role – a promotion they have both truly earned”, added Malone.

Fong was born in Taipei, Taiwan, moved to London in 2012, where she studied at Central Saint Martins and Cordwainers at the London College of Fashion, and joined the brand as an intern in 2014. Bava was born in Naples, Italy, and studied at Milan's Istituto Europeo di Design, specializing in shoes and accessories, joining Malone Souliers in 2017 as a design assistant. They were both promoted to senior designers in 2020.
