Maison Margiela with new CEO
The Paris-based luxury house has appointed Gaetano Sciuto as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective the 17th of July, and Stefano Rosso will be the house’s new Chairman, says WWD
Sciuto joins Margiela from Giorgio Armani, where he held the role of CEO of the Americas division since 2019. Before, he served as president of Fendi Americas for five years. Gaetano Sciuto will then succeed Gianfranco Gianangeli, who, according to a statement shared with WWD magazine, “decided to move on to a different field” after remaining with the French house for three years.
Meanwhile, Stefano Rosso will succeed his father, Renzo Rosso, as the new Chairman of the luxury house. Renzo Rosso acquired the Margiela business in 2002 and, throughout these two decades, founder Martin Margiela retired in 2009 and John Galliano was hired as the house's new Creative Director in 2014.
“Stefano's new role and Gaetano's arrival will be decisive in boosting the potential of the brand and steering it into its next stage of expansion”, said Renzo Rosso in the statement, while calling Maison Margiela “one of the fashion world's most iconic brands.”
Stefano Rosso is currently CEO of Brave Virtual Xperience or BVX, an offshoot of OTB dedicated to Web3 and the metaverse. He is already a member of the OTB Group board, the parent company of Maison Margiela, which also owns Diesel, Jil Sander, Marni, Viktor & Rolf and has a stake in Amiri, as well as production arms Staff International and Brave Kid.
