Mac DeMarco's old shoes sold for 21 100 US dollars
The artist’s trainers, worn during its live tour in 2014 have been sold on ebay. Money obtained with the sale will benefit a non-profit music and mentoring programme for women
A pair of old worn shoes, owned by indie musician, singer and songwriter Mac DeMarco, have been sold on an auction on eBay reaching a surprising amount.
The item under auction, a pair of autographed Vans worn by DeMarco during his 2014 live tour, received particular attention and the total amount obtained reached the sum of 21 100 USD by the end of the bid, on the 4th of January. The name of winner of the auction hasn’t been made public known yet.
The money obtained with the ebay auction will benefit Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls, a non-profit music and mentoring programme that empowers women through music education.
The musician was initially sceptic about the success if this auction, and even posted a video of his girlfriend sniffing the trainer as part of a smell test, and also managed to answer several questions from ebay users.
