Lululemon strengthens creative team
The apparel performance company has appointed Jonathan Cheung as Global Creative Director. JJ Colier has also joined the design team as the first Vice President of Design for Outerwear
Cheung, who has more than 30 years of creative and business leadership experience, will be responsible for Lululemon’s global creative strategy, creating a roadmap for product design that will help establish the company as a global destination brand for innovative apparel, footwear and accessories. Most recently, he was a consultant to brands such as Gap, Mattel, Merrell and Pangaia. Previously, he was Senior Vice President of Design and Design Innovation at Levi’s and worked with Franco Moschino and Giorgio Armani. He succeeds Phil Dickinson, who died in May last year.
As Lululemon’s first Vice President of Design for Outerwear, Collier will lead the men’s and women’s outerwear teams. He most recently founded design consultancy Collier Brands, which specialises in outdoor and lifestyle apparel. His 20-year career includes senior design roles at VF Corp, Ralph Lauren and Spyder Active Sports.
Collier will report to Cheung, who will work under Chief Product Officer Sun Choe. “Jonathan and JJ have proven track records in product innovation and their leadership will accelerate our goal of delivering products that both disrupt the industry and resonate with consumers, while building upon the expertise we have in creating technical innovations,” said Sun Choe.
