Kering promotes Stefano Cantino to CEO of Gucci
The French luxury group has announced that Stefano Cantino, who joined Gucci in May 2024 as Deputy CEO, has been promoted to CEO of the brand. He will succeed Jean-François Palus
Kering has announced the appointment of Stefano Cantino as CEO of Gucci, as of the 1st of January 2025. He will report to Francesca Bellettini, Kering’s Deputy CEO in charge of brand development, and will have a seat on the group’s Executive Committee.
The newly appointed CEO of Gucci will take over from Jean-François Palus, who was appointed CEO of the brand in July 2023 with the main objective of laying the foundations for Gucci’s next chapter and recruiting key talent, including his successor.
“I am deeply grateful to Jean-François for his dedication and loyalty to Gucci over this transitional period. I am confident that, building on what has been set up over the past 15 months, Stefano and the Gucci team will succeed in the mission to take Gucci back to the leadership the brand deserves”, commented Francesca Bellettini.
Cantino joined Gucci in May 2024 as deputy CEO from LVMH, where he had been SVP of communications and events at Louis Vuitton since 2018. Before that, he spent more than 20 years at the Prada Group, where he held positions of increasing responsibility in marketing and commercial roles, culminating in the role of Director of Communications and Marketing.
The announcement comes as Kering, which owns other household brands such as Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent, seeks to revive Gucci. In the first half of the year, the brand’s revenue fell by 20% on a reported basis and by 18% on a comparable basis, as compared to the same period of last year.
