JD Sports with record full-year profit
The retailer of sports, fashion and outdoor brands rose profit 18% to 90.5 million pounds
JD Sports' revenue for the 12 months period ended at the 1st of February 2015 totaled 1 522.3 million pounds, a 25% increase from the previous year (1 216.4 million pounds).
Profit before tax for the period reached 90.5 million pounds, going up by 18% from 76.8 million pounds in the previous year. The company also highlighted the record result with profit before tax and exceptional items in the continuing businesses of £100.0 million (2014: 82.0 million).
Operating in the sports fashion and outdoor segments, JD Sports stands out the exceptional performance in sports fashion with like for like store sales growth across the combined European stores. Sports fashion registered revenue of 1 352.3 million pounds and operating profits increasing by 18% to 107.0 million pounds.
Comparable with the wider sector, outdoor had a difficult second half following the very mild autumn and winter. Revenue for the segment totaled 169.9 million pounds, resulting in operating loss of 8.0 million pounds.
JD Sports had 660 sports fashion stores at the end of the financial year, including 351 outlets in the UK and Ireland and 65 shops in Europe. Encouraging progress was registered in the development of the international sports fashion offering with new stores added in all existing territories, with a total of 58 new stores.
