Jaguar and Oliver Sweeney announced footwear collaboration
British sports and luxury car manufacturer Jaguar (from Jaguar Land Rover) has announced the official launch of a new range of footwear, designed and created in collaboration with Oliver Sweeney, the footwear company founded in 1989. The designing teams from both British brands have combined efforts to develop the Jaguar by Oliver Sweeney collection. Taking inspiration from the F-Type sports car, its materials and finishes, the new range combines two distinct product styles, both positioned in the upper market segment.
The new collection features mens and ladies driving shoes with two fastening options, lace-up and slip-on, available in a combination of carbon fiber print leathers and sandwich nubuck leathers. The shoes are priced from €235 to €275, with 7 models available and 3 color options - red, navy blue and black - derived from the interior of the F-Type sports car.
Tim Cooper, Oliver Sweeney Cobbler-in-Chief, declared: "For us, Jaguar encompasses perfection beyond just intuitively rewarding performance vehicles. Their sports cars deliver an instantly engaging driving experience, which our range of Jaguar by Oliver Sweeney driver shoes perfectly complements”. He continued, adding: "Designed using our Anatomical Last™ technology, the shoes are styled on a device that mimics as closely as possible the natural contours of the foot, and we have removed the shank to sustain extensive durability and flexibility. This ensures our shoes provide a real connection between the driver, the vehicle and the road”. The Anatomical Last is an original last designed by Oliver Sweeney before launching the brand and is still used as the basis of all Sweeney footwear.
The Jaguar Land Rover company, which brings together the two British car brands, resulted from the acquisition of both businesses by TATA Motors Limited, India’s largest automobile company. TATA Motors is part of the Tata Group, owner of Tata International, a key player in the finished leather and footwear industry.
