International sales soar at SportsShoes.com
The UK-based footwear and outdoor gear e-commerce retailer has reported a 22% increase in international sales in the first half of its fiscal year, as compared to the same period of last year
In the financial year that began on the 1st of May, SportsShoes.com reported that it had acquired 75,000 new customers in Europe, a 17% increase on the previous year, leading to a 22% increase in international sales.
The British footwear and outdoor e-commerce retailer currently operates international websites for France, Germany, Italy and Spain and is targeting further growth in new markets, including Poland, Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as the Nordics.
“We have an established reputation within the UK marketplace as the premium online retail brand in our space”, said Brett Bannister, SportsShoes.com managing director. But “there is a clear opportunity for us to do the same in Europe and beyond, and these latest sales and customer acquisition numbers show our international expansion strategy is having a positive impact”.
However, Bannister highlighted that “at the heart of this success is our commitment to having a physical presence in the international markets we serve by delivering fresh and exciting brand activations within them. These provide us with multiple opportunities to connect and engage further with our international running and outdoor community”.
Founded in 1982 as a brick-and-mortar store, SportsShoes.com has evolved into an e-commerce retailer, offering customers over 17,000 products from 150 global running and outdoor brands.
