Similar schemes demand that importers submit information regarding the items imported in advance. The procedure is usually done through an online system and results in the attribution of an automatic registration number against the payment of a registration fee.
The Indian government introduced already introduced similar systems for sectors like coal and steel. Talks about the monitoring process of imports of leather products are still at a very early stage according to officials from the Ministry.
