Former Crocs CEO and son launch injection-moulded footwear brand
The former CEO of the Colorado-based footwear brand Crocs and his son have created Joybees, a Denver-based company making injection-moulded footwear
Joybees, a brand focusing on injection-moulded footwear, announced the launch of its shoe line with five initial products: Everyday Sandal, Dance Sandal, Casual Flip, Splash Sneaker and Adventure Sandal. The Denver-based footwear company will continue to launch products and styles and claims "comfort, ease and innovation" will be their core values.
"We are excited to bring a product line to the marketplace that gives consumers an easy to love shoe at an affordable price point. Injection-moulded EVA provides a great opportunity to make a shoe that is durable, comfortable and lightweight. Additionally, EVA footwear is odour resistant because it is a closed-cell foam. Joybees are easy to clean with water and soap making them a breeze for anyone on the go", commented CEO Kellen McCarvel.
Joybees Board Member and Advisor John McCarvel and CEO, Kellen McCarvel, have deep roots in the injection-moulded footwear industry as they served, respectively, as CEO and Merchandise Manager for Crocs. John McCarvel left his position at Crocs back in 2014, when he was replaced by Andrew Rees, current President and CECO of the brand. During McCarvel’s tenure with the company, Crocs went public.

"Because of our experience and industry connections, we are uniquely positioned to work with top designers and manufacturers that only established brands typically have the ability to engage. I’ve worked inside many brands that have experienced tremendous growth. I look forward to watching Joybees fill a market void with an accessible, family-friendly product line", concluded John McCarvel. The company started by focusing on the sandal’s universe and in the injection-moulded segment, which, according to the management is lacking some offer of products. The initial launch features multiple sandal styles, including a flip-flop and multi-strap sandals for women and a children's slip-on sneaker. Styles will range in price from 19.99 US dollars to 27.99 US dollars. After the launch of the sandals Joybees is likely to expand into other types of shoes, Kellen McCarcel stated.
So far, the company’s shoes are only being sold online, but Kellen McCarvel indicated the company is in discussions with a national retailer. Joybees currently has six full-time employees, however the aim for “2022 and beyond (..) to expand outside of injection-moulded footwear and outside of the US”
