House of Vans, Video Teaser

Recently opened in the United Kingdom, the House of Vans London, was presented by the famous footwear brand as "the physical manifestation of the culture and creativity that have defined the Vans brand since 1966”.

The brand, famous for embracing creative expression through art, music, skateboarding, BMX, street culture and fashion has a new space offering a solid platform for the local communities to experience and engage with the so called Vans "Off The Wall" spirit.

The House of Vans London will showcase an art gallery, a VansLab artist incubator space, cinema, live music venue, premium café and bars, gifting suite and skater built and designed concrete bowl, mini ramp and street course.

The House of Vans London will be open five days a week, and will host major live events at weekends. The space is ready for a wide range of educational and learning activities on offer, as Vans has transformed 30 000 square feet of this iconic indoor-space in Waterloo into an "Off The Wall" home for the European edition of The House of Vans.

Vans origins go back to 1966 and to the American state of California when Paul Van Doren and three partners opened up their first store, The Van Doren Rubber Company. On the first morning, 12 customers purchased shoes that were made that day and ready for pick-up in the afternoon. The Vans #44 deck shoes, which are now known as the Authentic, were born. In 1975 the company launched the era shoe, with a padded collar and different color combinations, and this became the choice for a generation of skateboarders. Achieving huge recognition in the 70s, the company ended up filling bankruptcy in 1983. However, by the end of the decade, debt was paid and with the collaboration of an investment bank the company started to recover and hit the market again. 2000 started with the recognition of Forbes magazine naming the company one of “America’s Best Small Companies". Vans continues to focus on creativity as a standout feature from the competition, and to prove it are the numerous collaborations, such as the one with designer Marc Jacobs, and the recently announced partnership with Star Wars.
