FICE appoints a new Secretary General
The Spanish Federation of Footwear Industries (FICE) has appointed Salvador Gómez as Secretary General. He succeeds Marián Cano, who has joined the local government of the Autonomous Community of Valencia
The new Secretary General has over 20 years of experience in management, consultancy and business representation in the footwear industry, having held various positions in public and private entities throughout his career. He is Secretary General of Calzia, the Association of Footwear Manufacturers of the Spanish Region of Murcia, and has been a member of the FICE Executive Committee since 2016.
“The appointment of Salvador Gómez opens a new stage in our organization. His extensive experience in the industry will be key to promoting the strategic development of footwear,” commented Rosana Perán Bazán, the President of the association, who is also President of the European footwear association CEC and Executive Vice President of the Pikolinos Group.
Speaking at the nomination ceremony, Gómez thanked FICE for “the trust it has placed in me” and stressed “the important challenges facing the footwear sector, challenges that we must meet by promoting innovation, sustainability and the internationalisation of our industry in order to strengthen the position of Spanish footwear in the global market”.
Rosana Perán also thanked Marián Cano for her service at FICE. “Her work has been key to strengthening our industry”. Cano was appointed in November as the new Councillor for Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism of Generalitat Valenciana, the local government of the autonomous community of Valencia.
