Exports of hides and skins with slight recovery in Brazil
The Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) has announced the figures for international trade during the month of February. After closing the year with declining exports, the industry shows some recovery signs
According to the CICB, based on numbers released by the Secretary of International Commerce, exports of hides and skins for the month of February 2016 recorded a total amount of 196.5 million US dollars, reflecting an increase of 0.6% over the same month of the past year (when exports totaled 195.4 million US dollars).
Considering only the hides from bovine cattle 3.5 million units were shipped in February, 41.6% more than in similar period last year.
The Brazilian hides and skins industry has closed the 2015 year with a total of 2.3 billion US dollars’ worth of exports, a declining trend compared to 2014 (-3.8%).
