Expo Riva Schuh & Gardabags closes with a 9 000 attendance
The last edition of the Italian trade fair attracted 9 000 visitors, up by 12.% from June's 2022 edition. As anticipated, the exhibition saw the return of a large number of Chinese exhibitors
Held between the 17th and the 20th of June at Riva del Garda Fierecongressi, this edition recorded 9 000 admissions, reflecting an increase of 12.5% as compared to June 2022. The organization also said that the fair hosted almost 1 300 exhibitors from 42 countries, including the newcomers Switzerland, Japan, Nepal, the Czech Republic and Mexico. But overall, this 99th edition saw the return of a large number of Asian exhibitors, with over 250 companies from Mainland China.
About 80% of visitants were from Europe, added the organization, in line with the trend observed at recent events. In particular, there was a significant increase in the number of Spanish buyers, up by 35%, as well as a 9% growth in German buyers, but a 7% decline in the number of Italian buyers, “offset by the broad participation of other markets” (103 in total). The fair's digital platform also promoted the meeting of some 10 000 industry professionals.
“Numbers that pleasantly impress us. In a European market where some of the most important countries are currently stagnant, the increased attendance rate is an excellent sign rewarding Expo Riva Schuh & Gardabags' decision to also focus on other markets, such as those of Latin America, Africa, the United States and Southeast Asia”, commented Alessandra Albarelli, Director of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi.
The organization highlighted as well the Summit promoted by the Confederation of International Footwear Association (CIFA) for the first time in Europe, which brought together Asian manufacturers' associations and international retailers' and buyers' associations to discuss supply and demand post-pandemic challenges and opportunities, including new consumer trends and emerging supply chains.
Next year's editions are scheduled to be held from the 13th to the 16th of January and from the 15th to the 18th of June. Anticipating Expo Riva's 100th anniversary, GianPaola Pedretti has already shared that “the celebrations will be distributed throughout the entire Riva del Garda area and spread over time since they will involve both the winter and summer editions.”
