Egypt: leather exports decline by more than 30%
The President of the Export Council for Leather Industries Mahmoud Sarg is being quoted for attributing this performance to the global demand decline
EgyptToday.com is reporting the 31.5% decline in the first 8 months of the year was attributed to the decline in the global demand for leather, by the President of the Export Council for Leather Industries Mahmoud Sarg.
According to the same source, the lack of focus on the livestock in Egypt with impacts on the quality of the leather resulting from there, also had a negative impact on exports.
The Export Council for the Leather Industries is now calling for the authorities to act, especially the need to look into the situation of livestock in Egypt and to work on effective export subsidies procedures
