Cyprus: consumers spending is more careful
According to the Cyprus Consumers’ Association the Cypriots appear to be choosing their purchases more carefully as the COVID-19 impacted our lives
“The behaviour of consumers changed after lockdown. People got used to visiting the supermarket fewer times in the month and to be more organised with their shopping”, commented the President of the Cyprus Consumers’ Association, Marios Droushiotis, as cited by the CyprusMail.
A lower number of visits to the shops, a focus on the grocery list without unplanned overspending are being cited as causes of a lower spending. The mandatory use of face masks by the public and the occurrence of high temperatures might explain part of the behaviour registered, Droushiotis believes.
Not only grocery shops were impacted by the above, but also clothing and footwear shops. Droushiotis added: “People now won’t be going for a shopping spree. They go to shops to buy what they need. They will reconsider an impulse buy”.
