The CICB Sustainability Forum 2024 will be held on the 13th of March during the Brazilian trade fair Fimec and will focus on the topic Links for Traceability. Find out more about the speakers
Traceability is a collective challenge. We encourage the search for solutions that identify the journey that the material or input has taken, from origin to delivery”, reads the CICB Sustainability Forum website ahead of the 13th of March event, organised by the Brazilian Tanning Industry Centre (CICB) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).

Ricardo Andrade, Technical and Sustainability Advisor at CICB, will kick off the event at the beginning of the afternoon with an overview of the leather value chain, its evolution and best practices. He will then give the stage to Otavio Klein, Executive Manager at producer Minerva Leather, where he has been responsible for commercial, sustainability, logistics and business intelligence since 2015.

This will be followed by an institutional presentation of IDH, a private foundation that works with producers, companies, financiers, governments and civil society to promote sustainable trade in global value chains.

André Luiz Tessele Nodari, an electrical engineer from UFRGS and founding partner of NBN Tecnologia Ltda, will present a proposal for extending animal traceability. Afterwards, Carlos Goulart, Secretary of Agricultural Defense (SDA) at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), and Renata Miranda, Secretary of Innovation, Sustainable Development, Irrigation, and Cooperativism (SDI) at MAPA, will provide the government’s perspective and updates on the topic of sustainability and traceability.

The Forum will close with a panel on the future of the sector. Moderated by José Fernando Bello of the CICB, Ricardo Andrade, Francisco Pugliese de Castro (CNA), Fernando Sampaio (Abiec), Carlos Goulart (MAPA/SDA), and Renata Miranda (MAPA/SDI) will share their ideas and predictions for the future.
