Burberry COO and CFO to step down
The UK-based luxury brand has announced that Julie Brown will leave both her roles as Chief Operating and Financial Officer at the close of the company’s fiscal year, on the 1st of April 2023
According to the company's statement, Brown is exiting the company after six years to take up an opportunity outside the luxury industry. Burberry added that the search for a successor is currently underway, and further updates are to be announced in due course.
The company's Chair, Gerry Murphy, expressed the Board's gratitude for her "very significant contribution to Burberry's transformation, including her central role in delivering our sustainability ambitions", while the CEO Jonathan Akeroyd highlighted the key role she played in "positioning Burberry for growth", thanking her personally by the support provided since he joined the company six months ago.
"It has been a privilege to serve as Burberry's CO&FO. As a group, we have strengthened our brand and business and taken an industry-leading position in sustainability. I am particularly proud of our work to navigate Burberry through the pandemic, remaining true to our values and delivering transformational change across Finance, IT, Burberry Business Services and Responsibility. I would like to thank Gerry, Jonathan, the Board, my colleagues and above all my team for their partnership”, stated Julie Brown.
