Brazilian footwear sales to UAE continue to grow
From January to September, shoe sales from Brazil to the United Arab Emirates went up by 17.5%. In the same period, Brazilian footwear exports dropped by 12%
Footwear exports from Brazil to the United Arab Emirates increased in the period January to September 2015. The UAE and Saudi Arabia were the top importers of Brazilian shoes among Middle East countries, despite a slight decline in sales to Saudi. The two countries together were the destination of 3.12 million pairs, worth 33.5 million US dollars, according to Abicalçados, the Brazilian Shoe Manufacturers Association.
The UAE positioned as the 13th leading buyer of Brazilian shoes. From January to September, the country bought 1.42 million shoe pairs, accounting for 2.3% (USD 16.6 million) of total footwear exports revenues (growing by up 17.5% from similar period last year).
According to the Brazilian Association, Saudi Arabia is now the 12th leading destination for Brazilian shoes, with 1.7 million pairs being exported to that Arab country. This resulted in revenue of 16.9 million US dollars and a 2.4% share of total export revenues from January to September.
The same source confirmed that total Brazilian footwear exports amounted to 694.83 million US dollars in the period, down by 11.9%.
The average price of a shoe pair sold to Arab countries was higher than the national export average. Whereas the national average is 8.03 US dollars, shoe pair prices averaged 9.99 US dollars to Saudi Arabia and 11.68 US dollars to the UAE.
