Brazilian footwear sales to the UAE increase by 22%
In clear contrast to the 12.3% decline in total international footwear sales in the period January-August, Brazilian exports to the Arab country are growing and totaled 15.7 million US dollars in the period
Brazil has shipped 1.4 million pairs of shoes to the UAE during the period under analysis, worthing roughly 15.73 million US dollars, according to data released by the Brazilian Footwear Association, Abicalçados.

The average price of the product exported to the UAE stands around 11.4 US dollars, 37.5% above the overalll average price of 8.2 US dollars, according to Abicalçados.

The UAE is already the 12th largest buyer of footwear from Brazil. At the top of the list is the United States, followed by Argentina, France, Bolivia, Paraguay, Colombia, Chile, Angola, Australia, Peru and the United Kingdom.

Overall, Brazilian footwear exports declined by 12.3% in the period January-August, reaching 613.1 million US dollars. Volumes shipped were also down by 9.0%, totaling 74.6 million pairs.

Looking into the sector’s performance in the month of August, the picture is even darker. The decline in international sales reached 23.5% in value and 10.2% in quantity, compared to similar month in 2014.
