Brazilian-based Beira Rio to set up factory in Argentina
One of the largest footwear manufacturers in Brazil, Calçados Beira Rio, S.A., plans to install a footwear factory in Argentina. The aim is to produce three million pairs per year
The company has announced it will install a footwear factory in northern Argentina with the capacity to produce 3 million pairs per year, which would be used to supply the local market and generate an exportable balance to the region.
The Minister of Productive Development, Matías Kulfas and the Secretary of Industry, Knowledge Economy and External Commercial Management, Ariel Schale, held a meeting with the president of Calçados Beira Rio, Roberto Argenta, during which the formation of the work teams was agreed to advance together with the investment process and location of the new footwear plant in Argentina.
This will be the first investment in a manufacturing unit of the company outside of Brazil. With almost 10 000 employees distributed across 11 industrial units, which produce more than 380 000 pairs of shoes per day, which are then sold in Brazil and in other 85 countries, Calçados Beira Rio SA is one of the largest Brazilian manufacturers.
