Bottega Veneta opens a new footwear factory
The Italian label, owned by the luxury group Kering, has opened a new footwear atelier in Vigonza, in the footwear district of Riviera del Brenta, located in the Veneto region
“Since its inception, Bottega Veneta has been deeply rooted in Veneto's unique culture, community and traditions. The craftsmanship which defines our label can only come from this region, and we could not have chosen a better place than Vigonza, in the Riviera del Brenta's footwear district, to build our new factory”, commented Bartolomeo Rongone, managing director of Bottega Veneta.
Covering almost 59 000 square feet over three floors, the new facility will enable Bottega Veneta to concentrate all the phases of the manufacturing process – from the design, development, research, quality control, prototyping and final production stages – under the same roof. The façade is made of dark, perforated metal panels that resemble the intrecciato pattern, for which the label is renowned. In addition, the site will be LEED certified.
Rongone added that this opening is an “important step” in the brand's internalisation process, enabling it “to preserve and foster the skills” of its artisans and “to extend to footwear the creativity and top-notch craftsmanship that have characterised our handbags since 1966”.
