Average worldwide export price continues an upward trend to reach $12
Prices of footwear continued to increase in 2023, as revealed by the latest World Footwear Yearbook, as recently released by APICCAPS, the Portuguese Footwear Association. $12 threshold reached
The average price per pair of exported footwear climbed to $11.99 in 2023, reflecting a 3.2% year-on-year increase and a substantial 38.8% appreciation when compared to 2014 levels.
Over the past decade, average export prices demonstrated a compound annual growth rate of 3.7% with relatively minor fluctuations on a yearly basis. While this upward pricing trajectory appears linear, it belies underlying heterogeneity across geographic regions and product segments, which will be explored in subsequent sections.
Over that decade, textile footwear saw the most substantial price appreciation with a remarkable 65% increase. Leather footwear prices showed a modest increase of 24% over the period.
