Authentic announces new Ted Baker licensing partners for the US and Canada
The New York-based brand management group has announced that it has found new licensing partners for Ted Baker in the US and Canada, thus securing the future of the fashion brand in the region
Authentic Brands Group (ABG) has entered into licensing partnerships with United Legwear & Apparel Co. (ULAC), BCI Brands and Peerless Clothing to secure the future of Ted Baker in the US and Canada. This new lineup is expected to help expand the brand’s presence in North America, cementing its identity and fostering strong relationships with key retailers and consumers.
“Ted Baker is an iconic high street brand known throughout the world for its classic British designs. Establishing a new and vibrant core business in the US and Canada is an essential building block for the revitalisation of this brand”, explained Jarrod Weber, Global President, Sports and Lifestyle at Authentic.
The Ted Baker Group, comprising Ted Baker Canada and Ted Baker Inc., filed for Chapter 15 bankruptcy protection in the US Bankruptcy Court in New York due to “liquidity constraints” caused by “negative cash flows and working capital issues”. This followed the UK business going into administration in March after struggling to cope with the damage caused by its partnership with former collaborator AARC.
United Legwear & Apparel Co. (ULAC)
United Legwear & Apparel Co. will design and manufacture Ted Baker’s branded men's sportswear, golf and denim categories and will be responsible for all wholesale and concession stores, as well as operating Tedbaker.us and Tedbaker.ca for the US and Canada.“We are thrilled to join forces with Authentic for Ted Baker”, said Christopher Volpe, Chief Operating and Financial Officer at ULAC. “We look forward to bringing our deep understanding of the men's sportswear market, as well as our commitment to product innovation to fuel the brand's growth and success”.
Peerless Clothing
Building on existing partnerships for the Vince, Hart Schaffner Marx, Hickey Freeman, Van Heusen and Izod, among others, Authentic has brought Peerless Clothing on board to design and manufacture Ted Baker’s tailored clothing, shirts, and outerwear for the US and Canada.“Peerless is honoured to partner with Authentic to elevate Ted Baker’s tailored clothing and outerwear categories in the US and Canada. We share the brand’s unwavering commitment to quality and craftsmanship, ensuring that the brand’s offerings remain exceptional”, stated Dan Orwig, President at Peerless Clothing.
BCI Brands
BCI Brands will be the brand’s strategic design and development partner for women’s sportswear, dresses and denim in the US and Canada. This agreement marks a new chapter in the partnership with Authentic, as BCI is already responsible for Vince Camuto.“We’re delighted to use our expertise in women’s sportswear, dresses and denim to carry on the legacy of Ted Baker’s unique British style and attention to detail. Ted Baker is an exciting addition to our expanding brand portfolio, and we look forward to growing the business and our partnership with Authentic”, commented Ariel Chaus, CEO at BCI Brands.
