Armando Cabral opens immersive retail space in the US
The Portuguese model and businessman expanded his brand with an Afro-Centric immersive retail experience in the Rockefeller Centre named ARMANDO CABRAL Mercado
It is a new phase for the 14-years old leather footwear and accessories brand, whose new immersive retail concept can be found at 60 West 50th Street. The space intends to encapsulate Cabral’s vision "for a unique brick and mortar extension of his namesake luxury brand", reflecting his love of travelling, experiences and African heritage. The model was born in Guinea-Bissau, grew up in Portugal and went to London to study, where he was recruited and started his model career. In 2018, he settled in New York and started his footwear brand.
"When I relaunched the brand last year, I knew we had to find a way to bring the brand's concept to life in a personalized space", says Armando Cabral. "Everything I create offers timeless elegance and high-quality craftsmanship. It's meant to be experienced in person. However, I did not wish to open just a shoe store because the brand is much more than footwear".
In addition to his collections, Mercado will welcome the products of designers and artists such as Taibo Bacar, Doreen Mashika, Maison D’Afie, Shekudo, Silk and Sleek and Reggie Khumalo. More are to be announced in the future.
