Argentina footwear industry new focus on Russia
High-level footwear exports to Russia could represent an opportunity for the Argentinian industry, according to Mr Horacio Moschetto, CIC’ Secretary (Chamber of the Footwear Industry)
During the Efica fair, CIC’s President, Mr Alberto Sellaro, said that the priorities for 2015 are “to keep adding value to Argentinean footwear, to make the country’s footwear firms more and more professional, to improve design content and develop new materials”.
The Secretary of the same organisation, Mr. Horacio Moschetto, said the footwear industry in Argentina was in for a busy year and told the Industry’s Minister, who was visiting the fair, about new possibilities appearing in external markets. Mr Moschetto said high-end Argentinean footwear companies could have a good opportunity to build up their export business in Russia at the moment.
European high end footwear companies have been successful in the Russian market in recent years, but suppliers from such countries are now facing some difficulties due to existing restrictions on trade between Russia and the European Union following recent tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
