2015 National Student Footwear Awards revealed
The winners of the second Cordwainer National Footwear Student of the Year competition were presented with their certificates at an event held in London at the Victoria and Albert Museum
The Cordwainer awards celebrate the best in student footwear design and forge links between footwear education and the footwear industry. Judged by three highly respected members of the footwear trade, Katie Greenyer, Creative Director of Pentland Brands, footwear designer Guy West, of Jeffery-West and shoe designer Atalanta Weller, the awards were presented by Jimmy Choo, a liveryman of the Cordwainers Company.
15 students from 3 UK universities specialising in footwear (University of Northampton, De Montfort and University of the Arts London’s London College of Fashion) submitted work to the competition.
The winner was Ganna Domnich from University of the Arts London, London College of Fashion with a collection “inspired by artists and so commercially viable”, as stated by Ms. Greenyer.
Second and third prize also went to University of the Arts London, London College of Fashion: Jack McMamara and Lauren Aileen Betourney.
Commendations were awarded to Sam Walker and Bethany Roberts, both from De Montfort University.
Mr. Jimmy Choo was joined by the designer Rupert Sanderson during the ceremony.
This was the second student awards edition organised by the Worshipful Company of Cordwainers.
