20% of Polish consumers admit to buy more than 5 pairs of shoes per year
This number is shared by KG International, a consultancy firm based in Poland, which revealed World Footwear some details about the footwear market in the country
The information is based on a report from ARC Rynek (2012), indicating that the Polish consumer buys, on average, 3 pairs of shoes per year. However, one in each four consumers admits buying 5 or more pairs each year. Comparing this report with data from the National Opinion Research Center (Centrum Bada? Opinii Publicznej) from 2005, a significant increase in the consumption of shoes is revealed as ten years ago only 6% of Polish consumers assumed to buy this amount of pairs of shoes.
According to KG International, Polish consumers are changing habits, increasing their expenses with shoes, usually paying higher value for higher quality, during the winter season, as the weather conditions in the country result in low temperatures and severe winters. ARC Rynek estimates that in the winter season 51% of the Polish consumers spend more than 250 zlotys (61.19 euros) when acquiring a pair of shoes. Consumption of more expensive shoes is lower in the summer, as only 33% reveal an appetite to consume more expensive shoes.
Similarly to other countries, women tend to buy more shoes, and 54% of the women declared they buy more than 4 pairs of shoes per year, which clearly contrast with only 18% of men.
KG International also confirmed that Poland is changing habits with consumers looking more often for better shoes, with quality and comfort, mainly during winter season.
