Children are the target of a brand that aims to combine quality and fashion in each pair of shoes produced. Reguila footwear needs to respond to children’s energy and hence the importance of the materials chosen: all footwear is 99% made using leather, with synthetic materials used only for some details.

“We are very careful with the materials used, paying particular attention to all metal parts, nickel free, so children do not have problems”, Miguel Tavares from Reguila stated. The concerns go beyond this and take into consideration all parts of the shoe, including interiors, the counter and the mats.

Another requirement of the business is the need to constantly be willing to learn; an example of that is the need to accommodate the different molds according to the customer’s nationalities, as the feet have different structures.

The origins of the company, where the young spirit prevails, dates back to 1987 and to the parents of Miguel Tavares and André Fonseca. At the beginning, the domestic market was the main destination for Reguila shoes, however, today the situation inverted and only 8% of production stays in Portugal.

“50% of production has the Dutch market as destination. France, England and Belgium are other important markets for Reguila”, said André Fonseca from Reguila. The company has the capability of producing up to 600 pairs of shoes each day.
