Ugg turns leftover leather and suede into a new footwear collection
The Deckers-owned brand has used surplus stock and cuttings from the last few seasons to launch ReImagined by Ugg, which reimagines two of Ugg's classic styles
The collection includes the Tasman slip-on and Classic Ultra mini boot styles, made from leftover suede, leather and sheepskin, each available in two colourways. In addition, the outsoles are made of renewable, rainwater-nourished sugarcane.
By using excess fabric that was ordered but never used for in-line products due to order cancellations or other product-related reasons, ReImagined by Ugg is a direct response to surplus stock and cut-outs from previous seasons. Instead of using the scraps for samples or pullovers, Ugg repurposes them to bring a new product to life for consumers and reduce material waste.
Therefore, future collections will vary depending on several factors, including the amount of surplus material available.
Deckers also noted that the suede and sheepskin are sourced from Leather Working Group-certified tanneries, which means the company adheres to best practices and positive social and environmental change for responsible leather production.
